At the January 27, 2015 meeting of the Board, the trustees:

Approved the following policies:

  • Hiring – Academic Staff Policy 300.10 (revised)
  • Hiring – Support Staff Policy 300.11 (revised)
  • Concussions Policy 200.08 (new)
  • Trustee Expenses Policy 100.10 (revised)
  • Communication on Behalf of the Board Policy 100.08 – Appendix A (revised)

Received reports/information on:

  • Goals for 2015-16 Budget
  • Revised Budget Estimates 2014-15
  • 2015-16 Budget Planning Process
  • Financial Statements – Year Ended August 31, 2014
  • Strategic Plan 2015-2018: Update on Public Participation and Strategic Plan Committee Creation
  • Student Trustee Update

Passed Notices of Motion:

  • To modify the Committee of the Whole and Board meetings room layout
  • To create a Communications and Information Technology Committee
  • To create a Legal Expenses Review Committee

Received the Student Trustee Report:

Student Trustee, Kim Gubbels’ report highlighted school news including:

  • Assumption College School raised approximately $15,000 during their Pennies from Heaven Campaign to support approximately 30 families in their school community during the Christmas season. They are also planning for their mock United Nations Assembly and Junior Semi-Formal to be held on February 20 and 21, respectively.
  • St. John’s College recently hosted an art show in their gymnasium celebrating students’ artistic talents for the entire community to enjoy. The school also raised over $15,000 for 28 families in need during their Christmas Angel Campaign.
  • Holy Trinity wrapped up their Giving Tree Campaign and collected gifts for approximately 30 families. They also provided Christmas meal baskets for families in need. They are now in the midst of their “Souper Bowl” soup drive.
  • All secondary schools held a Grade 8 Parent Night to promote Catholic Education and have completed their first semester exams. Staff and students did a phenomenal job in preparing for these exams.
