Catholic Board completes the ratification of six collective agreements
BRANTFORD, Ontario — The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) is pleased to announce the completion of the ratification of collective agreements covering all bargaining units of the Board.
Ratified agreements include the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) representing Occasional Teachers, Elementary Teachers, and Secondary Teachers and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) representing Early Childhood Educators (ECE), Educational Support Services (ESS) and Plant Support Services (PPS). A total of six collective agreements have been addressed.
“We strongly value our relationship with our Union partners and this past year has certainly demonstrated the hard work and commitment of our employee groups,” said Chair of the Board, Rick Petrella. “We have built a strong and collaborative relationship together which extends into the bargaining process. As such, we are able to come to agreements that are both fair and financially sustainable.”
“I am happy that we were able to negotiate fair and just collective agreements for our Occasional, Elementary and Secondary teachers,” said President - Brant Haldimand Norfolk Unit OECTA, Tom Laracy. “Our negotiating teams began the bargaining process last summer with numerous bargaining sessions and meetings. On behalf of OECTA Provincial, I want to congratulate all of the negotiation teams for a job well done.”
President D23 OSSTF ESS/ECE Bargaining Unit, Leslie Brown and President D23 OSSTF PPS Bargaining Unit, Paul Rusyn shared that “they are happy to announce on behalf of D23 OSSTF, all groups have ratified their local agreements with the BHNCDSB.”
The Board ratified OECTA Secondary on November 24, 2020 and OSSTF Plant Support Services on December 8, 2020. The remaining four bargaining units were ratified last evening at the January meeting of the Board of Trustees.
The agreements cover the period from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2022.
