Catholic secondary students continue solid performance in the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test

Thursday, September 26, 2019 – Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board Secondary School students continue to do perform well on the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). Catholic students topped the provincial average by 2% with 82% of students achieving success in 2018-2019.

Across the system, the assessment results saw a 5% increase over the 2017-18 school year. “We are very pleased with these results and will continue our focus on literacy teaching and learning with a cross-curricular approach,” said Superintendent of Education, Lorrie Temple.

The literacy plan that was implemented continues to have a strong impact on the level of success achieved by our students,” said Chair of the Board, Rick Petrella. “Strong communication skills are essential for success. We know that once our students complete their educational journey with us, they are well-prepared for their post-secondary next steps.”
