Current Leadership Professional Development Opportunities
The Innovator’s Mindset
In The Innovator’s Mindset, George Couros encourages teachers and administrators to empower their learners to wonder, to explore–and to become forward-thinking leaders. If we want innovative students, we need innovative educators. In other words, innovation begins with you. Ultimately, innovation is not about a skill set: it’s about a mindset. The Innovator’s Mindset is for you if: You are a superintendent, district administrator, or principal who wants to empower your staff to create a culture of innovation. You are a school leader – at any level – and want to help students and educators become their personal best. You are a teacher who wants to create relevant learning experiences and help students develop the skills they need to be successful. You’ll be inspired to: Connect with other innovative educators. Support teachers and leaders as learners. Tap into the strength of your learning community. Create ongoing opportunities for innovation. Seek more effective methods for measuring progress. And, most importantly, embrace change and use it to do something amazing.
On March 29, 2017 from 4:30 – 7:30PM, we invite educators in BHNCDSB to spend an evening with internationally renowned speaker, George Couros and become inspired to create authentic, meaningful and empowering learning experiences for our students in Brant Haldimand and Norfolk! The event will take place on Nipissing-Laurier Brantford Campus in the Theatre, at 50 Wellington St. Brantford. Mr. Couros is a Canadian author of The Innovator’s Mindset, an engaging and powerful book about leading and learning and unleashing student potential in a culture of innovation, creativity and 21st century thinking! If you follow Mr. Couros on Twitter @gcouros and on his daily blogs entitled The Principal of Change you will quickly become inspired to reflect on and change your own practice in order to create powerful learning experiences for students.
Please also note that a follow-up series called “Excellence in Innovation” will take place in the spring. Educators will be invited to participate in this 3-part series using The Innovator’s Mindset as the mentor text and explore topics in more depth that will lead participants to reflect on how to create and lead more innovative and creative schools/classrooms.
